Day 6:

Told you it does not look funny anymore!

Many villages in Bardiya and neighbouring districts are under flood. Hundreds of people are displaced and at least 12 people are reported to have died in the nearby districts. I just learned that the house of one of my colleagues from Kailali was also washed away by the floods and the whole village is displaced. There is no electricity and phone lines have been badly affected and therefore my diary for this day may not reach in time (though that should be least of our worries right now).

At the construction site we limped into action by 12 noon when the rain had somewhat ceased, with just a dozen community volunteers. However things were very slow as all of us had not even slept properly due to the storms and the water that was forced through the windows. Work was very difficult due to the pool of water inside the two rooms. We somehow managed to almost reach the lintel level. I wont be able to write a tip for today. And tomorrow (Sunday) we have decided to close work, hence no diary.

Shall be back soon.

Goodbye. Keep dry and warm.
