Referendum 2011
In the Comprehensive Peace Agreement from 2005, the Sudanese government in Khartoum and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement agreed to an interim solution which led to the establishment of a partially autonomous region in the south and the Government of Southern Sudan. It was also agreed that the population of Southern Sudan in 2011 would decide whether the country should remain one or split in two.
As the time for the referendum approaches, MS Sudan will support activities that aim to prepare the civil society and the local government institutions for a free and fair referendum.
