Civic and voter education materials ready
A number of civic and voter education materials are ready to be used by MS Sudan partners and other interested organisations. And more are to come.
By Peter Tholstrup, advocacy and democracy advisor, and Janne Bruvoll, information officer, MS Sudan11. November 2009
Pamphlets, debate cards, booklets and board games. MS Sudan has developed a number of civic and voter education materials aimed at supporting our partners’ work. The materials target the communities and therefore, the texts are brief, simple and easily understandable and at the same time, the messages are illustrated with cartoons.
So far, the following materials are available:
- Voter education board game (English)
- Voter education debate cards (English)
- Voter education pamphlet about ‘voter registration’ (English and Bari)
- Questionnaire on people’s knowledge about elections (English)
The following materials will be available by early December:
- Voter education pamphlet on ‘what are the elections about?’ (English and Bari)
- “Our Lives. Our Democracy” – revised version of the MS Sudan cartoon booklet (English and Bari)
In 2010, we will also publish voter education pamphlets on ‘citizens’ role in the campaign’ and ‘polling procedures’ (English and Bari).
Partners of MS Sudan can obtain the materials for free. However, all distribution of materials must be recorded for accountability, monitoring and follow-up purposes. Other organisations are welcome to use the materials but we have to ask them to pay the production expenses.
For more information or to obtain the materials, contact Peter Tholstrup, advocacy and democracy advisor, MS Sudan (pt.mssudan@ms.or.ug).
