Press release:

MS joins ActionAid International in the struggle for poverty eradication

01. January 2010

MS, Danish Association for International Cooperation has become a member of ActionAid International and is now known as MS ActionAid Denmark.

MS ActionAid Denmark has for more than forty years supported development initiatives and efforts in a number of countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The MS Uganda Country Programme was established in1967 originally under the name Danish Volunteer Service. Until now, the programme has been managed and administered through the MS Uganda Country Office but this is about to change as a result of MS ActionAid Denmark’s membership to ActionAid International.

From 1st January 2010 the MS Uganda Country Program will be managed and administered by ActionAid International Uganda in close consultation and cooperation with MS ActionAid Denmark and ActionAid International. Some of the MS Uganda staff will move from the current MS Uganda Country Office to the office of ActionAid International Uganda and from the new location continue to work with the Ugandan implementing and strategic partner organizations.

MS Uganda’s commitments to partner organizations and donors will not be affected by this change. Commitments will be honored and support to partners will continue under a revised ActionAid International Uganda structure.

By joining ActionAid MS will reduce transactional costs, and thus make more funds available for the fight against poverty and endeavours to promote just and democratic governance with partners in Uganda. It will also expand the national and global voices in the fight against poverty.
