Chongwe District Farmers Association (CDFA) is a member based non-governmental organisation established in 2002 focusing on the promotion and protecting farmers interests, lobby and advocacy, provide members with services related to agriculture information, marketing, technology and inputs among others.

CDFA is a registered non governmental organization under the societies act. The vision of the organisation is to achieve improved livelihood of its members through increased incomes and food security.  The mission of the organization is to work towards the realization of poverty reduction in chongwe and Zambia through the promotion of democracy, good governance, land rights, gender and networking.

Some of the strengths of the organization include having qualified, resilient, committed and competent human resource, and good relationship with local community, local government institutions and NGOs in the district. Other strengths include unique area of focus, existence of local networks, good advocacy skills and knowledge.

The organization also has challenges and weaknesses and these include a weak financial base, poor conditions of service particularly salaries, lack of infrastructure, donor dependency and high staff turnover. 

The project will be sustained through the goodwill from donors and the willingness and support of the members through membership fees.
