Community Education Focused On Resolving Disputes (CEFORD) is a drama group with the purpose of sensitising communities on different issues by dramatising problems and involving communities in finding solutions. CEFORD also mobilises local artists to develop songs that educate the communities on important matters, e.g. elections.

Objectives

• Foster unity, equality with gender sensitivity, justice and everlasting peace in the community
• Create awareness about corruption, gender based violence and promote democracy and good governance
• Promote social understanding among youth through creation of theatre which gives them an opportunity to share their own experience
• Create a network of artists as a way of working together for better performances
• Build the capacities of organised drama groups and local artists through networking meetings and trainings to increase awareness to the grass root level

Activities

• Training of forum theatre actors, artists and puppeteers
• Developing forum theatre plays and carrying out performances
• Producing films
• Developing radio plays
• Conducting live radio talk shows on topical issues
• Coordinating a network of artists
• Providing consultancies on thematic forum theatre development

CEFORD is a non-governmental and non-profit making organisation and only charge enough for the group and its activities to remain sustainable and the members to remain motivated. CEFORD operates in Lainya, Morobo and Yei River Counties and also has sister organisations within the three counties. The organisation was founded in Yei in 2005.
