Institute for Promotion of Civil Society (IPCS) is a non-governmental, non-profit making and non-political organisation founded in 1999. IPCS aims at supporting and strengthening civil society and improve livelihood in Southern Sudan.
IPCS’ programmes have overt time advanced from short-term pilot projects to long-term projects. IPCS has great experience in both providing technical support to civil society organisations and working in areas with low literacy levels and poor social infrastructure. The mission of IPCS is “to build capacity of and work with civil society organisations and community structures in Southern Sudan to facilitate equitable access to means of livelihood and basic social rights”.
Objectives
- Enhance communities’ possibility to receive and use information and education in their efforts to access basic rights
- Strengthen capacity of civil society organisations and improve the networking and advocacy capacity of organisations and other structures
- Empower the local structures to facilitate development and peaceful coexistence of communities
- Lobby and advocate for the rights of vulnerable groups

IPCS operates in Maridi, Mundri, Yei, Ibba, Western Juba, Morobo, Lainya and
Kajo-Keji.
