Mugwo Community Development Forum (MCDF) is an community based organisation and is based in Mugwo Payam with some activities in Otogo Payam.

Objectives

• Promote democratic leadership of local communities and community based organisations
• Sensitize and empower the community on good governance
• Collaborate with other institutions to promote a better and appropriate education system and administration
• Initiate gender awareness and sensitization programs to encourage girl child education and increase women participation in community development
• Promote micro entrepreneurship and income generating activities focused on self-reliance and sustainability
• Sensitize and empower the community to adopt modern farming systems
• Promote and protect natural resources for better environmental conservation
• Promote physical and social rehabilitation

Activities

• Civic and voter education using innovative approaches such as forum theatre, community and inter-school debates, dialogues and work camps
• Improve access to information via library services
• Training women groups in e.g. tailoring
• Provision of micro credit to women groups
• Support development planning at boma and payam levels
• Food and income security through farm and off-farm activities, e.g. poultry breeding, fish ponds and a micro credit scheme
• Training farmers on basic agricultural skills and promote effective environmental conservation
• Provision of agricultural extension services to farmer groups
• Environmental conservation through tree and fruit tree seedling provision

MCDF was founded as an umbrella organisation in 2000 by women, youth and farmers from Mugwo Payam.
