FOPROI - Provincial NGO Forum of Inhambane
The Provincial NGO Forum in Inhambane Province was established in 2002 as a forum to coordinate civil society initiatives in Inhambane Province. The Forum is made up of a number of different national and foreign organisations that are working within different areas of development in the province. FOPROI works in coordination with the member organisations to alleviate absolute poverty in the province, and is especially focussed on the following thematic areas: Good governance, human capital development, and economic development at provincial and district levels.

In the districts of Inhambane Province, FOPROI is represented by way of the focal points (District Host Organisations) that are members of the Forum. FOPROI also promotes the establishment of thematic groups at district level and of the establishment of civil councils in each district and municipality. At present, FOPROI has 50 members. Among the members of the Forum are national and international NGOs as well as local district-based associations. FOPROI is also the link between local government and civil society organisations in the province.

A strong civil society that promotes, participates in and influences socio-economic development in Inhambane Province in the interest of local communities.
