Theme: Building Local Democracy
ORAM associates itself with others, who fight against hunger and malnutrition in Mozambique.
Towards this end, ORAM has been working with a strategic aim ever since the approval of its first Strategic Plan: “A sustainable development of local associations and communities”.
ORAM was established in 1992, registered and published in the Official Gazette number 37 III Series, but its activities only started in 1993, after having received the first funds to start working on land coming from Christian Aid, the association’s first partner/donor.
The important role ORAM is playing with regard to land and natural resources, speaking vigorously on behalf of the farmers, and influencing the decision-making organs when it comes to the making laws on land and natural resources, the dissemination of Land, Forrest and Wild Animal Law and the legalisation of plots belonging to farmers or associations, has resulted in ORAM expanding rapidly to almost all corners of the country, or more precisely, to 8 provinces, where the following delegations have been opened:
North: Zambézia, Sofala, Nampula. South: Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane. Manica: Manica, Tete.
