UDEBA-LAB - Unit for the Development of Basic Education


UDEBA-LAB is a non-profit, technical-scientific, cultural and social association with administrative and financial autonomy. Through investigation-action UDEBA-LAB is involved in the development of basic education, where it stimulates and promotes participation, outspokenness and collaboration from all interested parties. UDEBA-LAB is a national association, and is as such authorised to develop its activities in all parts of the country, where it can open delegations and other forms of representations.

UDEBA-LAB started its activities in 2001 with the objective to improve the quality of education through the introduction of innovative methodologies, research/action and by stimulating the forces within civil society to work for it to develop.

UDEBA-LAB’s mission is to contribute to the development of a relevant and significant basic education, based on active community involvement and participation and the promotion of research and experimentation.

UDEBA-LAB intervention areas are:

  • Pedagogical activities;
  • Construction/rehabilitation of schools;
  • Prevention and the fight against HIV/AIDS;
  • Research/action.

Specific objectives:

  • To develop all the different sides of basic education;
  • To stimulate school involvement in and links with the surrounding community;
  • To expand and improve the quality of formal and informal education;
  • To give value to public knowledge and traditional education, getting them included in the world of science.

    Direct: Pupils and teachers.Indirect: Parents and guardians and community members.
