Gazing into the future
Happy New Year !! And may 2004 be a successful year for all of you!
The end of the old year and the start of a fresh one is a good reason to look back and learn – and sometimes to wonder. But it is even more important to look forward with curiosity and to have a vision for the coming year.
Very few of us are fortunetellers – but we might have an idea of the new year. What will it bring – is it anything I like – and how do I change it in the 'right' direction?
Let's plan for the future and let's make the plan an ambitious one!
News from the director
Happy New Year to all the MS-partners and development workers in Tanzania and Denmark!
Coming back to the Country Office after the holiday we all found a lot of tasks ahead of us and a busy calendar. That is a good sign.
The first days in the new year will be spent trying to follow up last years activities but also creating new activities.
On the agenda for the programme section this month are amongst other things: Peter Sigsgaard from MS-DK will come to Tanzania from 20th to 26th January to assist PAB finishing the Policy Paper 2004-2008. Members from PAB will go to Bagamoyo for four days to work undisturbed and intensively on the Paper.
The new programme officer Simon Lugandu and Maselle Maziku (and maybe Finn Petersen) will go to Terrat in the end of January for an annual review and introduction of Simon.
A delegation from MS-Nepal will visit the programme from 23rd January to 7th February to see how Tanzanian organisations works with Children Rights issues.
DW News
The first African Orientation Course (AOC) of the year is cancelled. Not enough people were going to Africa for MS. But we still get a person down here, though. A person who is familiar to MS and who doesn't need to go on the AOC again. Hans-Jakob Hausmann has just ended his stay in Makete, but is moving on for MS-Tanzania in one of the new partnerships. Naramatisho in Bagamoyo district has employed Hans-Jakob Hausmann in the position as organizational developer.

Tragic death
With deep sorrow, MS-Tanzania has received the news of the death of our former member of the Policy Advisory Board, Paul Bura. He passed away at Mount Meru Hospital Arusha after a long illness caused by kidney problems.
We wish the widow, children, parents, relatives and friends of the deceased a quick recovery from the sad loss.
