The Campaign - STOP JODTYVEN!

While the world in excitement awaits the upcoming World Cup in South Africa thousands of people is part of another fight. A fight for their right to land and food.

For many years, the operations of one of the world’s leading mining companies, Anglo Platinum, have been the cause of numerous relocations of local communities from their homes and agricultural land in the South African Limpopo province. This has happened against the will of these communities. Danish banks and pension funds have, in contradiction to their own investment policies, invested large amounts in Anglo Platinum and its mother company Anglo American.

“We never said that the mine could take our land, because nobody was talking to us.
We didn't get the chance to come up with a compromise.
That is why people are still fighting!”
James Shiburi, 67 år, Sekuruwe landsby

STOP JORDTYVEN! The campaign:

The main focus of the campaign STOP JORDTYVEN! is to create a debate in Denmark about ethical investments. We want the Danish citizens to ask of their banks and investment funds to prevent future unethical investments.

Join the fight and give voice to the people of Limpopo – participate in our events, workshops and debates – or use your voice and support a more strict control of companies’ social responsibility and a stronger demand for ethical investments.
