Essex University in England has a centre of Human Rights, where Human Rights are studied and researched in. It is possible to study on BA and MA levels, plus additional courses, all of which you can read more of on the webpage. Together with IDEA they are one of the founders of the original Democracy Audit.

IDEA is a Swedish intergovernmental organisation. Its focus is international and it works all over the world. They work for the support and development of democracy worldwide, for example due electoral assistance, information programmes of democracy and research. Together with Essex University Human Rights Centre they are one of the founders behind the original Democracy Audit.

Freedom House is an American NGO organisation working in several countries in the world. They believe that freedom can only exist in a democracy, and therefore they understand the to concepts as undertwined. Freedom House publish several books and reports, which can be either downloaded or ordered from the webpage, among others the annual reports Freedom in the World, Freedom of the Press, Nations in Transit and Countries at the Crossroad.

UNDP is the UN's coordinating development network. UNDP is involved in achieving the Millennium Development Goals, including the overaching goal of cutting poverty in half by 2015. UNDP focuses on helping countries build and share solutions to the challenges of: democratic governance, poverty reduction, crisis prevention and recovery, energy and environment, HIV/AIDS. The annual Human Development Report focuses the global debate on key development issues, and it can be downloaded at UNDP's homepage.
