A GROUP of Kenyans fetch clean water from Lake Victoria. Outcastes in Nepal learn about their rights. School children in Denmark debate globalization on the Internet.

These are three examples of the diversity of the work that MS does. MS, the Danish Association for International Co-operation, deals with many issues, but our work is tied to a clear vision:

A world at peace with better conditions for the poor and marginalized. A world in which people work together to promote global justice. Every day, together with 180 partner organizations in Africa, Central America, Asia, and in the Balkans, MS supports the poorest people in the world in their struggle for a better life.

We support their work and goals on their own terms, and we give our partners a say in MS activities and objectives.

Two important elements of MS’ work are ’advocacy’ and ’empowerment’.

Through advocacy, the poorest are given a voice. They are empowered to plead their own cause to politicians, authorities, and companies.

Empowerment is about making our partners aware of the political and economic causes of poverty, and to improve the organizations’ possibilities to do something about it, politically and in practice.

MS is a democratic association, rooted in Denmark, which comprises more than 6000 members. We also have a publishing house, a shop, a library and MS Travels, which every year sends some 500 Danes on an adventure, the essence of which is the encounter between people.
