The event took place at the community resource center and was organized by Yiaku Peoples Association. Both the women and their men were invited. The men made various delicacies as women gathered. It was a day full of colour, expectancy and vibrant community spirit.

MS Kenya co-sponsored the event and presented the Sexual Offenses Act, equipping the community with facts on what constitutes a sexual offense and why women are particularly vulnerable to sexual offenses.

The women were urged to take urgent steps to eradicate the vice in their communities by acting quickly to report offenders and by preventing these crimes by advocating women’s empowerment

The men were there too.

Another subject on the agenda was livestock as the Yiaku tribe, who used to be hunter gathers, are today mainly surviving on cattle herding. The division agricultural officer was at hand to sensitize the women on commercializing livestock sales, and to market their livestock through collective centers that can fetch them competitive market prices.
