Newsletter 2/2005 May: Peace in southern Sudan
Sudan: It's time for peace and reconstruciton
The signing of a peace agreement in January brought about hope to the people in southern Sudan: The Khartoum based Government of the Sudan and the Sudanese People’s Liberation Movement / Army, SPLM/A ended 21 years of fighting. Happy times - and challenging. Now comes the reconstruction and the creating coexistence of people with different backgrounds. This calls for collective efforts from within and outside the Sudan. MS is already planning to take part in the reconstruction: Democratisation and reconciliation are central elements in the future activities. The MS Uganda Newsletter travelled to southern Sudan in April 2005 to take a closer look at the situation and the people's hopes, dreams, and fears for the future.
