Newsletter 1/2005 February: Annual meeting
The people's leaders
Political transition is on and as civil society members we have expectations and concerns for the future leaders. Here MS Uganda partners at the AGM engage in discussions to express their expectations of future leaders. This was after the presentation by Prof. J.B. Kwesiga of DENIVA and Ms. Kahorono Elizabeth of Living Earth on the paper ‘2006 and our changing political landscape: A minimum Agenda from civil society’. Here are expected values aired at the Annual Meeting. (fh and jbk)Respect:
"A leader should respect sharing of powers with others"
Kaliisa Elisha, HNSDA, Hoima
Grooming:
"Someone who trains and grooms others to take up leadership position"
Patience Nabirye, USA, Kampala
Opinion:
"Openness to other peoples’s opinions. Today you may find yourself in trouble if
you speak against the leader"
