New chair and vice chair
In May Søren Hougaard, 49, was chosen as the new chairperson of MS. With him behind the steering wheel MS has a man of experience to lead the way into the future.Søren Hougaard is head of the international development program in one of the biggest unions in Denmark. Since 1987 he has worked with development aid and for 10 years he lived in developing countries including three years in Mozambique as MS development worker. He also has experience from three years as member of the MS board and from two years in the MS steering committee.
In a press release he says he is looking forward to a continuation of MS’ contributions for positive changes in the south through a modernised personnel program. Especially when it comes to eradicating poverty. Through partnerships with local, regional and national organisations MS is in close contact with people on the ground. Therefore, MS is in a good position to direct the development aid to people with real needs, he says.
The board has chosen Pernille Neergaard, 30, as vice chairperson. She is head of the Operation Days Work campaign and has been active within MS for many years. Pernille Neergaard is member of the board since 2002. (kp)
