Education for social change
Global Change is a brand new education from MS ActionAid Denmark. The goal is ambitious: Social and political change on a global level through education of young people in campaigning, leadership, facilitation, new media and innovative organising.
By participating in Global Change you will get inspiration, tools and concrete experience with carrying out large scale projects and campaigns. You will be trained to become a NewOrganizer.

The education lasts 4 months and is carried out from our Global Platform in Copenhagen. Also, the course includes a fieldwork of five weeks, which can be carried out in either South Africa or Denmark. It is not an ordinary study trip, so you will be trained to collaborate with local communities.
The course is based on a particular case and in the next course - starting February 8th - we target controversial mining activities in South Africa. The mining company Anglo Platinium is fordefully displacing thousans of people in its serach for platinium resources.
As a participant you get the task of developing and carrying out a large scale campaign, exposing the link between Danish investors and AngloPlatinium.

New Organizer
As NewOrganizer you will build up strong leadership skills by learning how to organize and facilitate social processes innovatively and reflexively while building up large scale campaigns and events based on participatory methods.
You will be trained in the following areas:
- Campaigning: Strategy, handling the press, videoning
- Leadership: Project planning, volunteer involvement, meeting techniques
- Facilitation: Graphic facilitation, group dynamics, 24 hour camp, brainstorming
- Participatory Action Research: Timeline and future timeline, resource-mapping, interview techniques

Practical information
Timing:
The Global Change education is four month starting twice a year in September and February. Spring 2010 start February .
Course fee:
The Spring 2010 course fee is 1780 Euros, including 1 month of fieldwork in Denmark. If you choose to do international fieldwork, including 1 month stay in South Africa, the price is 3460 Euros. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any fiancial support.
Deposite:
To garantee your participation, you must pay a deposite. If you decide to do your fieldwork in Denmark, the deposite is 110 Euros. For the fieldwork in South Africa the deposite is 375 Euros. The reason for the increased amount is that we book a flight ticket for South Africa, which cannot be cancelled. The deposite cannot be refunded.

Academic credit:
If you are enrolled at a university, you might be able to transfer the academic credit points earned at Global Change to your existing studies. Global Change is set to give 20 ECTS for the 4 month course.
