Volunteer at Café Mellemfolk

Café Mellemfolk is ActionAid Denmarks non-profit café located in the heart of Aarhus. The café is run by a dedicated team of volunteers, which you can become a part of.

As a volunteer at Café Mellemfolk, you will be part of a large and international community that helps raise money for projects around the world. We offer a relaxed and flexible working environment co-created by, and for, the volunteers. It is important to us that everyone gets the best out of it, whether by learning new skills, making new friends or by doing some good.

The profits from the café are donated to projects around the world, and the volunteers help to choose which projects the café supports. Currently, we are supporting a project in Nepal that empowers young people to fight for women's rights and create change, culturally and politically. The bar-group

In the Bar Group, you can help choose what we serve in our glasses and from our draft beer taps.

If you have a great eye for what the people of Aarhus like to drink and would like to decide what to serve our customers, then join the Bar Group.

As a volunteer in the Bar Group, you will receive thorough training, a barista course, tremendous bar experience and the chance to meet wonderful people. You will also have the opportunity to join beer tasting sessions, learn to keep track of orders and gain a variety of other skills.

We expect you to work 4-5 hour shifts 3 times a month. You will receive two ‘drink tokens’ per shift, to use as you please, while warm drinks are free.

PR and Communication

The PR and Communication Group is responsible for all external communication.

Through SoMe and other activities, the group ensures that they reach AADKs audience correctly and effectively. As a volunteer in PR and communication, you will work directly with activities that promote Café Mellemfolk. You will have the opportunity to write updates and create events on our website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. You will also assist with creating posters and flyers, promote our products in Café Mellemfolk and other creative ad-hoc tasks that you find interesting.

Do you have an interest in communication? And do you want to try your hand at a non-profit organization? Then join the PR and Communication Group.

Maintenance and decoration

The Maintenance and Decorations Group is responsible for the interior design in the café.

Volunteers are tasked with creating a warm and welcoming space while also stepping in when the café is in need of minor reparations.

If you have an inner interior designer, with an eye for creating ‘hygge’ with the right furniture and small details, then the Decorations Group is the place for you.

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to work with

  • Sustainable design
  • Furniture purchasing process
