Café MellemFolk in Aarhus
Café MellemFolk is the non-profit café of Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke in the heart of Aarhus. The café is run by volunteers and the profit goes to a project chosen by the volunteers.
When you enter the doors to Café MellemFolk, you'll enter an oasis of sustainability, diversity and good vibes. It's a café where everyone is welcome, a café where you can enjoy interesting events about global issues and a café where you can read a book or play a boardgame over a cup of ecological coffée or beer.

Volunteer at MellemFolk
You can be a volunteer at Café MellemFolk in plenty of different ways. Most of us do have shifts behind the bar, but other than that, we have a lot of different working groups doing everything from HR and PR to event-planning. Have a look at our different groups here, and if you would like to volunteer, you can contact us on facebook or leave us a mail email@example.com.
Bar volunteers: This group is for the bar volunteers in Café MellemFolk. Bar volunteers should take at least three shifts a month of 4-5 hours each. In return, they receive two “drikkebrikker” per shift. Hot drinks are free for the bar volunteer on a shift.
Campaign and event group: The overall responsibility of this group is to create campaigns and events internally in Café MellemFolk and externally locally. The campaigns and events should not oppose MS’ values and purposes. When in doubt, the campaign and event group should consult the project manager and the local coordinator(s).
HR: The overall responsibility of this group is to get new volunteers in Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus and new bar volunteers for Café MellemFolk, this includes: Information meetings at least once a month, development and distribution of HR-material, social events for the volunteers, ensuring diversity in Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus.
PR and communication: The overall responsibility of this group is the external communication of Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus and Café MellemFolk, this includes: Updating the Facebook-page for both “Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus” and “Café MellemFolk”, establishment and maintenance of the Café MellemFolk webpage, to promote our own events and campaigns both to the mass public and to the press and to update the calendar for events in the café.
Decoration: The overall responsibility of this group is to furnish and decorate Café MellemFolk both in the start-up process and in the daily maintenance, this includes: Ensuring a visual profile with a global outlook to Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke’s areas of interests, ensuring that our furniture come from sustainable sources, decide upon possible exhibitions in the café, maintenance and repairing of the interior.
Bar and finance: The overall responsibility of this group is to set up and maintain the bar- and finance system in Café MellemFolk, this includes: To decide what to sell in the café, make supplier agreements, ordering of goods, ensuring that our products are sustainable, introduce Planday to new volunteers, instruct new bar-volunteers and set up the financial system.
Teaching and facilitating group: The overall purpose of this group is to facilitate workshops concerning Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke’s areas of interest.
Fundraising: The overall responsibility of this group is to fundraise money for events and campaigns in Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke Aarhus and the running of Café MellemFolk.
Together with MellemRummet in Copenhagen, Café MellemFolk supports a project in El Salvador, where activists are fighting to get the youth out of a criminal enviroment. In the video below, the awesome activists behind the project will give a more detailed explanation
