Reboot Digital Platform Call
Consultant for Digital Youth Engagement – Rebooting the Food System
Background
Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke – ActionAid Denmark is a co-beneficiary in the EU-wide project “Rebooting the Food System: Youth Engagement for Agroecology and Due Diligence”, funded by the European Commission. The project brings together 14 civil society organisations from 9 countries to mobilize young people in co-creating a fair and sustainable food system rooted in agroecological principles.
The campaign challenges the industrialised food system, which contributes to climate change, ecological destruction, and exploitative labour practices. Our goal is to empower youth to become active agents of change and help close the gap between EU policy ambitions (e.g. the Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork strategy) and real-world implementation.
As part of this effort, Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke is managing a consultancy in Denmark to support grassroots CSOs working with youth aged 15–30. With this effort, we are facilitating digital collaboration among youth across Europe to strengthen their engagement and collective action.
Purpose of the Consultancy
We are seeking a tech-savvy, creative, and engaging consultant to support the digital connection of youth across Europe using existing platforms and tools. The consultant will help foster collaboration, exchange, and learning among youth multipliers and campaign participants, without developing a new digital platform. The aim is to improve communication across the project by identifying problems in current communication setups and taking the necessary steps to accommodate those.
Deliverables
- A functional and active digital engagement setup using existing platforms.
- Onboarding and training materials tailored to youth participants using the platforms.
- Regular updates, user surveys, and engagement reports.
- Technical support and moderation throughout the project period.
Objectives
- Facilitate meaningful digital engagement among youth involved in the campaign.
- Use existing digital platforms (e.g. Telegram, Discord, Slack, Zoom, WhatsApp, Miro, etc.) to support communication, collaboration, and storytelling.
- Support youth multipliers in sharing opportunities, experiences, and resources.
- Provide onboarding, moderation, and technical support to ensure inclusive and active participation.
Scope of Work
- Validate digital engagement strategy with consortium members and youth.
- Harvest stories from youth multipliers across the EU consortium.
- Increase activity and participation on selected digital platforms.
- Organize onboarding sessions for youth multipliers and partners.
- Share opportunities (trainings, events, international activities) via digital channels.
- Moderate and support digital spaces, including troubleshooting and community care.
- Evaluate and adapt the digital engagement approach based on feedback.
Timeline
The consultancy will ideally run from October 2025 to March 2026, however some flexibility can be allowed if necessary.
Estimated workload: 15–25 hours per month.
Collaboration
The consultant will work closely with the Project Coordinator at Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke – ActionAid Denmark, who will facilitate connections to partners and activities. The consultant will be responsible for delivering the agreed outputs independently.
You will be able to work from either of our offices in either Aarhus or Copenhagen. Working remotely will also be possible to a certain degree.
Proposal Requirements
Interested consultants should submit a short proposal including:
- Approach: How you would carry out the tasks listed above.
- Budget: Estimated costs for completing the work (we have a maximum of 75.000kr for this task).
- Qualifications: Your motivation, experience with food system change, communication skills, youth engagement, and relevant digital competencies.
Note: Reboot is a youth-led project. We strongly encourage young applicants, and previous consultancy experience is not required.
